Three fatalities occurred and a minimum of nine individuals sustained injuries in the newest assault from Ukraine on the border territory of Russia of Belgorod, as stated by regional authorities.

The fatalities occurred after an attack on the Maslova Pristan settlement early on Wednesday, authorities reported. Emergency workers were persisting in looking for people potentially caught under rubble.

This marks the third straight day that Ukraine has struck the region, resulting in many individuals without power and at least two other people fatally injured.

Wave of Assaults Result in Destruction

A sequence of Wednesday missile and drone strikes destroyed residences, vehicles and power lines in numerous regions of Belgorod, per information from government communications.

Sources published photographs from Maslova Pristan revealing a sports centre with its building components destroyed, and mentioned that emergency personnel were clearing debris and evaluating the destruction.

In the nearby town of Moshchenoye, six people - including a child - got hurt when a rocket and drone targeted transportation, while a man was hurt when a vehicle was targeted in Masychevo.

Power Outages Hit Many

The strikes follow multiple days of identical assaults that have resulted in power outages and infrastructure destruction in the city of Belgorod and adjacent territories.

Close to 40K individuals were affected by power cuts across multiple districts, per information from government sources.

Broader Context of Hostilities

Ukrainian forces have significantly escalated the quantity of strikes targeting Russia's fuel processing facilities in the last several months, causing petroleum deficits and cost increases in certain Russian regions.

At least 21 of the country's primary processing facilities - at locations transforming oil into usable fuel like petrol and diesel - have been hit since January, substantially exceeding as throughout last year.

Ongoing Hostilities

At the same time, Russian attacks on Ukraine are persisting. Ukrainian aerial defenses stated during midweek its protective measures destroyed or took out 154 aerial vehicles, but 22 struck targets in numerous areas.

Wreckage from stopped unmanned vehicles ignited flames and damage to civilian infrastructure.
